Games are always a hit at birthday parties, but did you know that they can spice up Thanksgiving too? They’re a great way to keep your kids (and impatient grownups) busy, especially after everyone has had their fill at the table. Here are a few classic party games made even more special for the holidays.

Twenty Questions

This classic game is perfect for those moments when there really isn’t much of anything to do. You can play this with or without writing down the questions on paper! All you have to do is think of a few Thanksgiving topics that your guests can guess in 20 yes-or-no questions or less. Whoever gets the most number of correct answers will win the game, so be prepared with a special holiday-themed prize!

Bingo

It’s not just for seniors anymore! Introduce your family to a new tradition by buying a bingo set for less than $20. Kids can have fun calling out numbers and blocking out patterns on the bingo sheets. Be warned, though–it can get pretty competitive out there!

Musical Chairs

Chances are that you already have all the components of this classic party game, so if your kids haven’t played Musical Chairs yet it’s time to introduce the rules to them. Crank up the music and watch as the players keep an eye out on a chair to sit on once the music stops. Again, it can get pretty competitive, but it’s all in the spirit of good fun!

Pictionary

You could spring for the deluxe Pictionary board game, but when it boils down to it all you really need for this game is pen and paper. The point is for players to guess what another person is drawing in front of them. A holiday-appropriate theme makes the game even more special!

Pin The Tail on the Turkey

The name says it all! Watch as everyone tries to pin “tails” on the correct part of the turkey, and give a prize to whoever comes the closest. If you are not artistically inclined to draw a turkey on your own, there are some “pin the tail” sets that won’t cost you an arm and a leg.

Outdoor Games

If the weather is pleasant, you can go ahead and take the festivities outdoors. Tug-of-war and water balloon tosses are two classic games that can be played by the whole family, and the components often cost less than $10. They’re also a great way to get some exercise in, especially after the big feast!

Regardless of the age of your players, it’s always a good idea to have some party games on hand to keep everyone occupied. It’s a great way for the family to bond together, win or lose. Just make sure to have enough prizes at hand so everyone can enjoy the fun and games!
